A warrant of arrest has been issued
against an Administrative Police officer in Embu, Kenya. The officer is
facing three charges of gang raping a 19-year-old woman with a colleague
at Eastern Provincial Headquarter’s gate.
The Embu
court heard that on April 12th the two officers Ahmed Amayo and Richard
Anondo arrested the woman for no charges and kept her in custody till
dark. One of the officers dragged her to a GK car at the headquarters
where they took turns to rape her at gun point.
After
raping her for hours they drove her to a church in the area where they
released her at about mid night and warned her against telling anyone.
However the woman told some Good Samaritans of her ordeal.
After
the arrest of the officers, they were arraigned in court and Anondo was
released on a bond of Sh. 200,000. However, he has not been following
the terms of the bond and has been skipping hearings.
Embu Chief Magistrate Margaret Wachira issued a warrant of arrest for Anondo who will be appearing in court on January 15.
