Fighting has erupted in the troubled
Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, between Nigerian security officials
and gunmen believed to be members of the terror group, Boko Haram,
operating in the area.
The gun battle began in the Lagos Street and Gwange area of the city after gunmen detonated explosives around the area, attracting officers of the Joint Task Force who have been battling to flush the terror gang from the city since 2010.
Details of the casualty is still unclear as fighting was still ongoing at about 9:30 a.m. Monday morning.
